poker Networks Supported Networks

Many poker rooms share players and tables with other poker rooms because they are on the same poker network. This helps to ensure an adequate number of players and action (see our Poker Networks Player Counts Section which is updated hourly) for all the poker rooms on the same network. Often times, these poker rooms are referred to as "skins". As a player, you may want to have multiple accounts at the same poker network, through different skins, to take advantage of bonuses and promotions offered by each individual poker room.

Cereus
The CEREUS network is the result of the merger between two of online pokers biggest names, Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet. The union of these two player bases has formed the 3rd largest poker network in the world. The massive project was over a year in the planning at Tokwiro Enterprises, the company which owns both sites.

Although both Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet players they still retain their own unique features. Able to choose between two distinct software experiences, depending on their tastes. Basically, this move is set to help increase the traffic at both sites, while maintain each company's core values. You will now be able to play against someone from Ultimate Bet while on Absolute (and vice versa) but still be able to use the rooms specific features or promotions.

The two established faces of the CEREUS network are greatly improved by a shared tournament structure, offering enough variety in styles and limits to cater to any player. For example, Absolute's largest weekly tournament is their $150,000 guaranteed every Saturday. Ultimate Bet's is their $200,000 guaranteed every Sunday. Because these two sites are merging, you can expect these tournaments to offer even larger guarantees once everything is set. Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet also share promotions, enabling greater choice and value of service.

The top priority for many players tempted by the new network will be increased security measures. CEREUS promises an all-new 24/7 state of the art security center, including a feature which automatically tracks hands in order to identify abnormal winning statistics. The forming of this new network has also meant the combination of the support and payment processing for both Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker. Although both clients will retain a lot of their unique flavor, they both share some exciting new features. Top tournament players will be happy to see the introduction of deal making for final tables. Tournament fiends will also enjoy a new window which tracks all tournaments you are registered for, so you don't forget about that $5 satellite you signed up for last week. Serious players should also benefit from improved hand history and an optimized time bank.

One unique addition, which should satisfy the thrill-seeker, is the new rabbit-cam. This lets you peek at what cards would have come out had the hand gone to showdown. New table views and downloadable skins allow users on both Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet greater control over the appearance of their personal client. One important change for cash game players is the shift towards 9-player tables. Most tables on offer for No-Limit Hold 'em are 6-max or 9-max, with little to no full ring games available.

The increase in action and choice that has resulted from the combination of these has added another poker giant to the online scene. One other important thing to note is both of these rooms still plan on accepting US players from all locations. This will not change, and all players are still welcome! Whether it be UltimateBet or Absolute Poker that you chose to play on, you will end up benefiting from this merger to the CEREUS Poker Network.

Cake
Cake Poker are one of the youngest online poker companies operating today. They were founded in 2004, with the aim of crafting an online poker client a cut above the rest. A small passionate team spent two years working on their own network and poker client, eventually launching both in 2006. Since then they have undergone a massive expansion. The Cake Poker client is currently one of the most popular on the internet and the Cake Poker network has become host to a wide variety of skins and branded poker rooms.

The network is owned by Cake Gaming N.V., a firm incorporated in Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles. They obtain both a gaming license and hosting services from Cyberluck, one of the most popular online gambling support companies in the Dutch Antilles. As part of their modern approach to online poker, Cake Gaming have made a strong commitment to security and responsibility. Their shuffling randomness has been approved by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and is controlled by the Microsoft CryptoAPI RNG. They also have detailed information for problem gambling and the list the many ways in which they and other organizations can help those affected.

When Cake Poker arrived in 2006 their network hosted only one room. In a very short time they have amassed a total of 35 different skins, all running games on the Cake Poker Network. This rapid accent has left them in the top 10 poker networks in the world and they show no signs of showing down. They recently added Doyle’s Room to their portfolio, the site fronted by poker legend Doyle Brunson.

Cake are one of the few networks still accepting US players, something that has formed a big part of their recent success. Despite being one of the youngest networks in the industry they are also one of the most successful. With peak player totals of between 7,500 and 9,000 every day, it seems that the only way is up.

Merge
You may have encountered the Merge network in a previous life, if you played on Poker.com. Since 2005 the company have been providing online poker software to a large crowd of customers. In 2007, however, everything changed, and the firm decided to change focus from running a poker site to providing a network and software for other clients. Poker.com became a portal linking to other sites, and the newly named Merge Network began the process of farming out their online poker client to a number of new skins.

The resulting network now includes over 40 different poker sites, including the likes of CarbonPoker, G2GPoker, and TexasHoldem.com. The switch from poker site to network has served them well, as they now sit within the top 20 most popular online poker networks in the world. They have also benefitted as one of the few networks who have remained open to US customers following the UIGEA in 2006.

Their headquarters is in Australia, although their servers reside in the Kahnawake Mohawk territory in Canada. This is a hotspot for many online gaming companies, all of whom are licensed and regulated by the Kanhawake Gaming Commission. With their new streamlined client and state of the art safety procedures, the young Merge network looks set to continue its ascent.

Even though the Merge Gaming Network is one of the newest poker networks by name, it definitely isn’t new. By “merging” Poker.com with other sites and with plans of adding more skins, the old player base should drastically increase in numbers.

Ongame
The OnGame network sprung up in 1999, under the steam of the Swedish Group OnGame. To accompany the new network, they released their flagship client - PokerRoom.com. PokerRoom became one of the world’s most recognizable and well attended online poker destinations. The software was most famous for its 3D avatars that represented players at the tables. The success of PokerRoom attracted new companies to the OnGame network, and a number of popular “skins” sprung up.

In March 2006 the OnGame network was purchased by Austrian gaming giants bwin. They consolidated their own ‘bwin Poker’ into OnGame and continued the expansion of the burgeoning network. One element that did not survive the buy-out was the famous PokerRoom.com site. Although the network itself was performing well, bwin called time on PokerRoom’s 10 year run in April 2009. OnGame is now a subsidiary of bwin Interactive Entertainment AG. The Vienna based company is licensed and regulated by the Government of Gibraltar.

The OnGame network is one of the many that elected to withdraw from the U.S. market following the inception of the UIGEA. Thanks to bwin’s strong position in Europe, OnGame have managed to remain inside the top 5 poker rooms in the world. They regularly record daily player traffic peaks of upwards of 25,000 simultaneous players.

The company have recently released their new P5 software platform, which they claim is one of the most advanced pieces of online poker software available today. The new client has been rolled out to the 20+ skins who make up the OnGame network. There are a number of new upgrades and improvements, even down to an overhaul of the classic 3D avatars that so many people associate with the OnGame brand. Among the sites who currently reside on the OnGame network are EuroPoker, bwin, HollywoodPoker, Tower Gaming, and RedKings.

Full Tilt
The Full Tilt Poker Network, launched in 2004, is one of the most popular poker networks available today. Its sheer size trumps almost every single other poker networks today, with the exception of one. Currently, there is only one room affiliated to this network and that is Full Tilt Poker, which prides itself in offering its players the ability to play versus the top pros in the game currently. Players you will find who exclusively play on this network and its sole skin Full Tilt Poker include, among many, Mike Matusow, Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson.

On the Full Tilt Poker Network you will find pretty much any cash game you would want to play at pretty much any possible limit. The network, despite having just one skin which is appropriately called Full Tilt Poker, delivers on all accounts. You would find the classic popular ones such as Texas Hold’em and Omaha Hold’em, in No Limit, Fixed Limit, Pot Limit and Mixed Limits variations, and you will also find lesser popular games such as Stud (Hi and Low), Razz and all kinds of Mixed Games including but not limited to HORSE. Speaking of stakes, these range from the penny games all the way up to the biggest games you could find online, being $500/$1000 No Limit.

The player traffic, as has been mentioned before, is among the best you can currently find online, with peak hours approaching the 6 figures in players playing on the tables. On average you could find a peak of 95,000 players online, with even more on Sundays because of the great guaranteed money tournaments. Speaking of tournaments, because of Full Tilt Poker Network’s sole skin Full Tilt Poker having such excellent software and tournaments structure, it’s a very popular destination for online tournament players and therefore benefits of having great tournament traffic around the clock. All the poker disciplines and buy-ins are well represented in that regard.

Players from all parts of the globe are welcome on the Full Tilt Poker Network including American players, despite the passing of dubious and vaguely worded laws in the US which have as intention the prevention of this.

The Full Tilt Poker Network is big and huge, but the way how they have handled the swagger that comes with such a prominent position indicates that they will not be getting smaller anytime soon, and instead, they will be getting bigger and bigger. The sole skin on the network constantly has great promotions for all playing level, and the software in use is state of the art in terms of user friendliness, looks and stability. It’s simply the best, and getting even better if that is possible.

Because of their great marketing abilities, team of professionals, and innovative software features you can expect Full Tilt Poker to keep growing in numbers.

PKR
The PKR Poker Network is truly one of a kind. With years in the making, they have developed a fully 3D environment to give you a brand new experience when playing online poker. PKR is licensed and regulated by The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC).

When they were launching for beta testing in 2006, many players were very excited to experience real money poker games in a video game type format. Late in 2006, they went live and started accepting real money players and since have created an average player base of 3000+ and at peak times can have 7000+ connected. However, early in their release they closed doors to US players for real money accounts. If you reside in the US, you can still open an account for play money, and over half their traffic usually is from this.

Due to the complexity of their software, PKR does not have any other skins on their network. They are the only poker room today that offers real money poker games in a completely customizable 3D environment.

PKR holds integrity on a high level, and always considers feedback from its players. They have invested a large amount of time in their shuffling algorithm and RNG. PKR Ltd has been evaluated by Gaming Associates, an Australian based testing company and have met all requirements

PKR is one of the current networks that does NOT accept US players since the gambling legislation that was passed in 2006. (You can create an account for play money only.)

PKR is always thinking of new ways to enhance their already incredible poker software. They pride themselves in being the first poker room to truly bring a personality to the online world.

iPoker
The iPoker Poker network is one of the most popular poker networks geared mainly towards Europeans. There are a ton of skins affiliated to this network, each having their own (however similar) VIP Store, promotions and other small nuances. The network is not open to US customers, sadly, and games are considered to be more on the tight side. But still, there are many excellent features that those who are eligible to play on the network should check out.

For starters we have the great software. All the skins offer exactly the same software, dressed up in their custom colors. The software is by Playtech, and boasts of some pretty awesome 3D graphics complete with animated avatars and also a 2D miniview which would be excellent for multitablers. There is also a full-screen viewing mode and optional embedded sidegames such as Blackjack, Video Poker and Progressive Bonus Stage Slots. So to satisfy the rest of your gambling fix (not just poker), you will find what you need on this network.

Playtech also boasts of having an excellent Random Number Generating ensuring the fairness of the deal, and is checked by TST which is an internationally recognized and respected Accreditation Testing Company. They also benefit of having state of the art collusion prevention and detection tools, so you can rest assured no undetected and unpunished collusion is taking place on the iPoker network.

The iPoker Network has been in business since 2004, and has since grown into being one of the most well trafficked poker networks in the world. At peak hours (European, of course) you will find about 5 figures worth of players on the network, and during a day you may average a little bit north of 9,000. The iPoker Network has excellent cash game traffic in the Cadillac of poker that is NLHE, but not so much in other poker variants such as Omaha or Stud. While you may still get a few games going, the traffic pales in comparison to the NLHE traffic on iPoker sites. Tournaments are also pretty popular on the site, with many MTTs and SNGs of all buy-ins going on all the time. iPoker Network’s traffic is currently the third best in the world, behind only PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker respectively.

The Playtech team has worked hard in developing and maintaining an excellent network for all your gambling needs, and the iPoker Network is the fruit of all their hard labor. You will have very nice software, great traffic and peace of mind by playing on the iPoker Network (if you are eligible). All they could do to be even better than they are now is of course to open their doors to US players, but with the current legislative situation over there it doesn’t look like it’ll be happening anytime soon.

pokerstars
The PokerStars network services the PokerStars client only, but even without any skins it is easily the largest poker network online today. The company was created in Costa Rica in 2001, making it a younger firm than some of the other online heavyweights. After a number of years the business moved its operations to the Isle of Man in the British Isles. They are now licensed and regulated by the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission.

In 2005, PokerStars won the eGaming Review Best Poker Operator of the Year award. The award praised the innovative and secure platform that the PokerStars team had crafted. This solid foundation created the perfect springboard for the company to take advantage of the massive industry shift that occurred in late 2006. The passing of the UIGEA forced many sites to withdraw their services to US customers. PokerStars defied that ruling and remained open to US players, a move which catapulted them to the top of the rankings. They quickly leapfrogged former giant PartyPoker and have spent the last few years consolidating that position.

PokerStars is the largest online poker network, by a long shot! In September of 2009, PokerStars has been averaging over 250,000 players connected during their peak times. The second largest network, Full Tilt, just barely breaks 100,000.

The strength of the PokerStars network is built entirely upon the success of the PokerStars client. This software platform provides top quality in every department, from multi-table tournaments to personalized avatars. They provide a wider range of games than any other network, including rarities like 2-7 Single Draw and Badugi. Mac users can also get a fully downloadable PokerStars client. PokerStars is still the only site on their network - there are no skins.

Many players are attracted to PokerStars by the large number of recognizable pros that comprise Team PokerStars Pro. The squad has a habit of picking up WSOP Main Event champions, many of whom qualified for the tournament via PokerStars’ online satellites. Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem, and Peter Eastgate all make their online home at PokerStars. Among the other well known faces you’ll find playing on the network are Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein and Vanessa Rousso.

True Poker
The True Poker Network is owned by TPCR Development SRL, which is a Costa Rican based corporation. Their hold company is TrueCashier Ltd, which is operated in Ireland. They are licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission; which is the holder of more than 300 online poker and casino rooms.

The True Poker Network was formed by a team of avid poker players and industry leading software developers in 2001. They’re goal is to provide a very technical interface with a “real life” experience at the tables. They hold integrity and security on a very high level.

The software that True Poker runs was developed by Spacemental Productions, and is based around a 3D poker experience. Although you do need a good computer to run it, when it was released it was a one of a kind interface. It is a break from the same old “point and click” 2d tables that you see most poker rooms today run.

True Poker is one of the current networks that still accepts US players since the gambling legislation that was passed in 2006.

There are at least two poker rooms that use the True Poker network as a skin. Although this network has been around for quite some time, it doesn’t have a very large player base. On average you will find around 1000 players connected, which is still enough to find a game for your limit.

Party Gaming
PartyPoker have long been one of the most recognizable online poker companies in the world. Since launching in 2001 they have become an iconic brand, providing online poker entertainment to millions of customers.

The company is owned and operated by PartyGaming Plc. Founded in 1997, the company reached the peak of their success in the midst of the poker boom. Culminating in a listing on the London Stock Exchange in 2005. Along with many other online gaming companies, they are licensed and regulated by the Government of Gibraltar. They have locations all around the world, from their head office in Gibraltar all the way to a business outsourcing operation in Hyderabad, India. They are also one of the most global online poker providers, serving customers from over 170 different countries.

Party’s initial success was built upon the “skins” they allowed to use their network. Sites based on the PartyPoker network included Empire Poker, Intertops, Eurobet, and Multi Poker. However, in late 2005 PartyGaming made the decision to split with their partners, forming the new PartyPoker network while the skins remained on a separate PartyPoker Skins Network. The fallout from this operation involved consolidation and law suits. Eurobet left the network, while Intertops and Multi Poker were both purchased and integrated into PartyPoker. Empire Poker, one of the largest and most popular skins, brought a law suit that ended with them also being purchased and consumed into Party Poker.

Party’s reign as the most popular network came to an abrupt end following the passage of the UIGEA in 2006. This US law forced a number of online poker clients to close their doors to US customers. The loss of these players hit Party hard, but they have since regrouped and forged a large European customer base. They are currently the 4th largest network in the world, and the second largest of those who do not accept U.S. customers.

Entraction
Entraction Poker Network, formerly the B2B Network, is a poker network that’s primarily geared for the European player. Its software and games are available in a multitude of languages (13 at least) and Euro as the preferred currency. Entraction Holding AB are the guys behind the scenes of the Entraction Poker Network, and they are based in Sweden. Entraction Holding AB is a reputable company, as it is listed in the Nordic Stock Exchange, the Scandinavian Wall-Street. Its poker division is operated by subsidiaries on the beautiful island of Malta and these are licensed to market and conduct their own gaming activities, and to deliver gaming services to other partners in the poker network. Needless to say, the Entraction Poker Network is unavailable to American players.

Variety is key for any good poker network, and Entraction delivers by offering a multitude of games, including popular ones such as Texas Hold’em and Omaha Hold’em in all limits and less popular ones such as Omaha 8, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud 8. 2 to 7 Triple Draw and 5 Card draw, but also virtually unknown variants such as Soko, Americana, Telesina and Caribbean Stud Poker. Most rooms also offer a casino for additional gambling thrill, to go along with the room. Whatever you crave to play and whatever bankroll you may have, there is a table with a matching game waiting for you on the Entraction Poker Network.

Entraction’s customer base is primarily European. This means that the peak times of play on the network’s sites are also in line with the peak times for its European player base. The Entraction Poker Network boasts of having more than one and a half million accounts, and 140,000 active cash game players. During peak hours, you may get anywhere between 5,000 and 10,000 players playing on the network. Cash games, while plentiful, are not particularly juicy because the player play level on the Entraction Poker Network is relatively high. While there are fish, the ration of fish:good players could definitely be better.

The software is the backbone of any poker site, and the Entraction Poker Network delivers in this regard. You get a download version and a Mac-compatible browser version of the poker client, and the EPN boasts of being one of the only poker networks in the industry to offer a browser version of its software with features equivalent to those of the downloadable client. You can rest assured of the Entraction Poker Network’s integrity, as its random-card generator has been analyzed and approved by iTech Labs.

There are truly a ton of skins on the Entraction Poker Network, and each offers its own look and feel, bonuses and frequent player programs. And the amount of sites affiliated to the network keeps growing. You should have a look in the accompanying list of poker sites that are in the Entraction Poker Network to see which one appeals the most to you; you can be sure you will find at least one that will satisfy all of your needs.

everleaf
Everleaf Gaming Network is one of the smaller poker networks operational today. It is a network comprised of independent online cardrooms, all of them being partners of Everleaf Gaming Ltd. The Everleaf Gaming Network operates under license from and is regulated by the Malta Lottery and Gaming Authority (LGA).

Everleaf boasts of having one of the most advanced shuffling systems available to date. It’s called the “Quantum Photon Shuffler”, and its “essentially an unpredictable, scientifically- proven quantum-mechanical process inside a special, impregnable, 'hack-proof' “black box”.” The software is also offered in multiple languages in order to cater to a wider audience, and is also tested and monitored on a regular basis in order to comply with Maltese law.

On the Everleaf Gaming Network there are at least 20 skins, but still, the network struggles to break the 1,000 concurrent players barrier. In fact, during peak hours, you could consider yourself lucky if you find more than 600 players playing at the same time. Amazingly, this is one of the few networks that still allow US players to play, so at least theoretically it should be more popular.

Microgaming/Prima
Microgaming Software Systems Ltd. have been in the online gambling business for as long as there has been an online gambling business. They claim to have spearheaded the whole industry by introducing the very first online casino in 1994. Since then they have gone on to provide numerous customers with state of the art gaming platforms.

The company is based on the Isle of Man, along with other online heavyweights like PokerStars. As such, they fall under the jurisdiction of the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission. Microgaming’s commitment to security and integrity has helped them stay ahead of their competitors for over 15 years.

Among their many concerns is the Microgaming Poker Network. Formerly known as Prima Poker, this has long been one of the most popular and sturdiest online poker networks on the market. The network has amassed over 40 different skin clients, who use the Microgaming software and network to run their online poker sites. Among the well known sites who operate on the network are 32Red, Unibet, and Betway.com.

Microgaming further consolidated their position by striking a deal with Ladbrokes Poker. The large online gaming site agreed to join the Microgaming network, although a small percentage of their tables remain exclusive to Ladbrokes customers. These many partners mean that the Microgaming is inside the top 10 most used poker networks in the world.
